Powering African cities
Renewable energy is touted as a solution for rural electricity access in Africa – but it could also solve the unique challenges of providing reliable energy in urban areas. By 2050, the World Economic Forum predicts that more than 1.3 billion people in Africa will call a city home. Such a large number of people living in growing cities could pose problems, but finding green solutions to critical infrastructure like energy can help mitigate challenges and ensure development is sustainable.
